The past couple months I've been creating this club at my school. It's called Green Team (Save the environment, that sort of stuff). I think that it's a great club and I can not overemphasize the need for spreading awareness on this matter.
Part of the process for getting a club organized is getting a petition signed. This was mostly a mundane process, but at times it got quite interesting and sometimes even awkward. One occasion that I can specifically remember went like this:
Me: Hi, I'm trying to start a club at our school called Green Team, would you mind signing my petition to say that you think this club would be beneficial to our school?
Her: Sure, what's Green Team?
Me: It's a club that mainly promotes environmental awareness. You know, like, go green, that sort of stuff.
Her: (she dropped the pen I had given her to sign her name when I said 'environmental awareness') Cassie, are you a democrat?
I laughed. Moral of the story: come join Green Team tomorrow during Club Carnival. We're not communists.

Side note: I'm not a democrat, but I'm not a republican either.
I'm an Independent, if you care to know.
Me: Um....no...I just think we should be good stewards of our planet.
Her: So this isn't just some communist group?
Me: No...I think democracy is wonderful.
Her: Okay, I'll sign!
