A couple of years ago I had a friend who would say this phrase at least twice a day, "I can't wait until I turn eighteen and can move out."
Well, I never agreed with that bitter fellow. I love my family and I was content with being a child.
But now times have changed, I long to be eighteen sometimes. Just for two simple reasons:
Reason 1) I want to VOTE.
I miss the benchmark by a little less than six months...okay, so that's quite some time. Still, I would cast an educated vote. Coming from someone who has ran for student council four times, believe me, I do not take voting lightly. I study, I weigh the pros and cons, I listen to a variety of opinions, and then I form my own. Well, on the bright side, I'll only have to wait four more years until the next presidential election comes around.
Reason 2) I want to donate my plasma.
Not for the satisfying feeling of serving others or donating, but for selfish reasons. You get paid to give it away and all you have to do is have a well-functioning body. I could use a little money and sitting in a chair bleeding seems like an easier way to earn that money rather than working a minimum wage job selling cheeseburgers to grumpy people.
